The message that Leigh Steinberg and the Sporting Green Alliance delivered was clear - if you want to have a positive impact on the planet, you need to learn how to recycle electronics. There are not enough people in the world who are recycling their electronic waste when they replace old gadgets with new ones. Many of the components within gadgets and electronics can be reused. Additionally, there are some components of electronics and gadgets that need to be properly disposed of. Rather than simply throw your old gadgets away you can recycle electronics in order to dispose of them properly, giving their components and elements a new life.

There are a number of unique programs that allow consumers to recycle electronics of all kinds, including programs offered by electronics companies, and retailers as well. Sony, Dell, HP and Apple are all electronics producers that offer recycling programs. Additionally, electronics retailers offer their own programs to recycle electronics as well. The largest retailer of electronics in the United States, Best Buy, is a major force in recycling electronics waste. More than 20 million lbs worth of electronics was recycled through Best Buy electronics recycling programs in 2006 alone.

In 2006 alone, more than 13 million pounds of electronic and gadget waste was recycled by Apple. The apple company is expecting the amount of recycled electronics to grow so that by 2008, 20 percent of electronic products will be recycled effectively. Apple hopes to be recycling as many as 19 million pounds of electronic waste every year by the year 2010. 19 million pounds of electronic waste is 30 percent of the product weight that was sold seven years prior, which is a large growth over the 9.5 percent recycled in 2006. By the time Leigh Steinberg’s Annual Super Bowl Party comes around in 2012, the Sporting Green Alliance may promote the recycling of 2008 iPhones.

What many consumers are not actually aware of is the fact that Best Buy offers a number of other recycling programs. Best Buy promotes the recycling of all electronics, so there are other electronics recycling programs that they can assist consumers with. Best Buy has program that will let you recycle kitchen appliances, for example. The company will send someone to a consumer’s home to remove old appliances. Best Buy will take the responsibility to have the removed appliances sent to the proper recycling facility.

By promoting the recycling of appliances and electronics, Best Buy is making sure that harmful materials are disposed of properly. When recycled electronics have parts that can be used again, they will be properly salvaged. Any remaining materials will be recycled for scrap purposes. By working with Best Buy to recycle electronics, you can make sure that your electronics end up in the right place. Not only will the salvageable parts be reused, but the harmful parts will be disposed of properly. This is the best way to recycle electronics in the United States.

The Sony electronics company has a program designed to take back used PCs and notebooks in exchange for credit. Visiting SonyStyle.com or visiting a Sony Style retail store is the first step in the process. You simply need to bring your old Sony computer into a store or have it mailed in. All fifty states also allow for old Sony products to be brought into Waste Management facilities. You can drop them off for electronics recycling at no cost to you. The ultimate plan, according to Sony, is to have a recycling center less than 20 miles away from most consumers in the US.

Hewlett Packard, another electronics company, has been trying to recycle electronics products for more than 20 years. They began recycling consumer electronics in 1987. There are several options to make sure that HP electronics do not pollute the planet. There is an HP trade in program offering fair market value in exchange for used technology. Every HP product category of electronics is covered, including HP and non-HP electronics as well. HP also takes HP printer ink cartridges as well.

Learning how to recycle electronics intelligently is a big step in the right direction. Recycling your electronics will allow their parts to be reused effectively and their toxins properly disposed of. Recycling electronics is easy, and has a positive impact on the environment. If you are not already recycling your discarded electronic devices, then now is the time to learn how. Follow the lead of Leigh Steinberg and the Sporting Green Alliance and do your part today by learning how to recycle electronics when you are done with them.

Training for your CompTIA A+ covers 4 different sectors - you’ll have to qualify in just two sectors to be considered competent in A+. You’ll find that many training establishments only offer two of the four areas. Our opinion is this will under prepare you - certainly you’ll have the qualification, but training on all 4 will set you apart in the workplace, where knowledge of all four will be necessary. So that’s why you need education in all 4 specialities.

If you decide to become a student on the A+ training program you’ll become familiar with how to build and repair PC’s and operate in antistatic conditions. Diagnostic techniques and fault finding are also on the syllabus, as is remote access. If you would like to be someone who is a member of a large organisation - fixing and supporting networks, build on A+ with Network+, or follow the Microsoft route - MCP’s, MCSA or MCSE as you’ll need a wider knowledge of the way networks work.

So if the UK computer industry grants so many phenomenal career possibilities for us - then which questions should we pose and which elements should we be considering?

Don’t put too much store, as many people do, on the certification itself. You’re not training for the sake of training; this is about gaining commercial employment. Begin and continue with the end in mind. It’s an awful thing, but a large percentage of students start out on programs that sound spectacular from the syllabus guide, but which delivers a career that is of no interest. Speak to a selection of university leavers for a real eye-opener.

Never let your focus stray from where you want to get to, and formulate your training based on that - don’t do it back-to-front. Keep on track - making sure you’re training for a career you’ll enjoy for years to come. It’s worth seeking guidance from a professional that understands the sector you’re considering, and who can give you ‘A day in the life of’ explanation for each job considered. These things are of paramount importance because you need to know if you’re going down the right road.

Most trainers typically provide piles of reference manuals and workbooks. Obviously, this isn’t much fun and isn’t the best way to go about remembering. Memory is vastly improved when all our senses are brought into the mix - learning experts have been saying this for as long as we can remember.

Interactive full motion video involving demonstration and virtual lab’s will forever turn you away from traditional book study. And they’re far more fun. It’s very important to see the type of training provided by each company you’re contemplating. It’s essential they incorporate instructor-led video demonstrations with virtual practice-lab’s.

Purely on-line training should be avoided. Physical CD or DVD ROM materials are preferable where possible, so that you have access at all times - ISP quality varies, so you don’t want to be totally reliant on your broadband being ‘up’ 100 percent of the time.

Quite often, students have issues with a single training area very rarely considered: How the training is broken down and packaged off through the post. Typically, you’ll join a programme staged over 2 or 3 years and get posted one section at a time - from one exam to the next. While this may sound logical on one level, consider this: Maybe the order of study prescribed by the provider doesn’t suit you. You may find it a stretch to finalise all the modules at the speed required?

An ideal situation would be to have all the training materials posted to you right at the start; the entire thing! Then, nothing can hinder your capacity to get everything done.

It’s so important to understand this key point: Always get full 24×7 support from professional instructors. You’ll severely regret it if you don’t. Never buy certification programs which can only support you with an out-sourced call-centre message system outside of normal office hours. Trainers will defend this with all kinds of excuses. The simple fact of the matter is - you want to be supported when you need the help - not at times when they find it cheaper to provide it.

The best training colleges utilise an online 24 hours-a-day package pulling in several support offices across the globe. You will be provided with a single, easy-to-use interface which switches seamlessly to the best choice of centres at any time of day or night: Support when you need it. Unless you insist on direct-access 24×7 support, you’ll very quickly realise that you’ve made a mistake. You may not need it late in the night, but you may need weekends, evenings and early mornings at some point

‘Exam Guarantees’ are often bundled with training offers - this always means exams have to be paid for upfront, when you pay for the rest of your course. Before you get carried away with this so-called guarantee, look at the following:

Everyone knows they’re still being charged for it - it’s obviously already been included in the overall price charged by the college. It’s certainly not free - don’t think these companies are so generous with their money! The honest truth is that when trainees fund each progressive exam, one at a time, they will be much more likely to get through on the first attempt - since they are conscious of their payment and their application will be greater.

Take your exams as locally as possible and don’t pay up-front, but seek out the best deal for you when you’re ready. Is there a good reason to pay interest on a bigger loan than is necessary because you’ve paid early for examinations when there was no need to? A great deal of money is netted by organisations charging all their exam fees up-front - and then cashing in when they’re not all taken. Also, exam guarantees often have very little value. Many training companies won’t be prepared to pay for you to re-take until you’re able to demonstrate an excellent mock pass rate.

Paying maybe a thousand pounds extra on an ‘Exam Guarantee’ is foolish - when hard work, commitment and the right preparation via exam simulations is what will really see you through.

Finding your first job in the industry can be a little easier if you’re offered a Job Placement Assistance facility. The need for this feature can be bigged up out of proportion though - it’s quite easy for eager sales people to overstate it’s need. The fact of the matter is, the need for well trained IT people in the United Kingdom is what will make you attractive to employers.

Help and assistance with preparing a CV and getting interviews may be available (if not, see one of our sites for help). Make sure you work on your old CV right away - don’t leave it till you pass the exams! Many junior support jobs have been bagged by trainees who’re still on their course and haven’t even passed a single exam yet. At least this will get you into the ‘maybe’ pile of CV’s - rather than the ‘No’ pile. If you’d like to keep travelling time and costs to a minimum, then you’ll probably find that a specialist locally based employment agency could work much better for you than a centralised service, for they are much more inclined to have insider knowledge of the local job scene.

Certainly ensure you don’t spend hundreds of hours on your training and studies, just to give up and leave it up to everyone else to find you a job. Stand up for yourself and get on with the job. Invest the same focus into finding your new role as you did to gain the skills.

It’s clear nowadays: There really is no such thing as personal job security available anymore; there can only be market and sector security - as any company can fire a solitary member of staff if it suits the company’s commercial needs. We can however hit upon security at market-level, by looking for areas that have high demand, together with shortages of trained staff.

Reviewing the computing market, a recent e-Skills analysis showed a more than 26 percent skills deficit. So, out of each 4 positions that exist across Information Technology (IT), organisations can only find certified professionals for 3 of them. This disquieting truth reveals an urgent requirement for more technically certified Information Technology professionals around the country. With the market growing at such a speed, could there honestly be a better sector worth looking at as a retraining vehicle.

Learning to speak Italian or any new language in fact is an ideal self improvement activity. By learning all the skills needed to become bilingual in Italian you will get many other skills and benefits that you can use in other aspects of your life. One thing is true, your knowledge of your own native tongue will improve. This can make you more confident in your work and daily life.

This will make you more interesting in social situations and ultimately more popular. This is something that most people would like a little bit more of. Other than that, there is no doubt that being bilingual can translate to better job prospects and even faster advancement in your chosen career. Even if the language is not directly relevant to your profession, the achievement shows that you have discipline and commitment to a goal and employers like this.

So what is the first things to do if you are beginning to learn to speak Italian ?

First things first. How quickly do you want to learn Italian. Most people would say as fast as possible but your learning should be viewed in context with your learning abilities and your lifestyle. Making an unrealistic goal could frustrate you and ultimately cause you to give up.

If you have no responsibilities and are pretty determined to learn Italian then I would suggest you get yourself on a plane to Italy and take an immersion course for a few months. Then live in Italy for a while. Get a job even. If you do all these things I would say you will have a good understanding of the language within 6 months to a year. You’ll certainly be able to chat confidently and understand what is going on.

For most people however this is a bit of a pipe dream. Most people have to hold down a job to pay the bills and this job sucks up plenty of time. This translates to being very disciplined in how you learn Italian and to dial down your goal of reaching fluency in the shortest possible time.

This may describe your situation. If so, learning to speak Italian takes getting a routine going that you can stick to with some conviction. Set a time each week when you can concentrate all your attention on Italian.

Get a good program or take a class that brings some formality to the lessons. Build on the initial lessons. As you get more into the working of the language, learning will become easier and you will be able to tune into the lessons quicker.

With more experience, you will be able to use different and more enjoyable techniques to learn Italian. For instance you could watch Italian films. This will help you in many ways like vocabulary or grammar construction. But it will be enjoyable too and not like a lesson. Once you get to this stage, learning Italian will stop being a chore and will just be another aspect of your life. This is when you really start to learn the language.
